The Minnesota Gopher football team entered their game against Purdue ranked #25 in both polls and #24 in the BCS rankings. With their 17-6 victory over the Boilermakers and the loss of nine teams in the Top 25, the Gophers could move into the Top 20. Minnesota faces previously No. 22-ranked Northwestern next Saturday for their homecoming game as they hope to improve to 8-1 overall.
Oklahoma State lost for the first time this season, falling to #1 ranked in the BCS Texas, 28-24. However, the #6 Cowboys figured to stay in the top 10. Ohio State fell for the second time this season, losing at home to #3 Penn State 13-6. This should push the Buckeyes out of the top 10.
No. 13 LSU fell to #7 Georgia, 52-38, losing for the second time this year in SEC play. No. 16 South Florida, #17 Pitt and #18 Georgia Tech also lost for the second time, losing to Louisville, Rutgers and Virginia, respectively.
No. 22 Northwestern lost to Indiana 21-19, and #23 Kansas was beat by #8 Texas Tech.
Minnesota could move up as many as five spots and will likely be favored in all three of their remaining home games.
