Gopher commitment Eric Decker, a 6-foot-3 wide receiver from Cold
Springs (MN) Rocori, caught 11 passes for 208 yards and four touchdowns
versus Little Falls in a 57-20 win. The number of catches, yards and receiving
touchdowns were all school records. Decker attended the Gopher football camp and
became the fourth in-state player to pledge to Minnesota. Decker has 40 catches
for 600 yards (15 yards per catch) and 11 receiving touchdowns this season.
The Spartans are off to a 6-0 start and are 5-0 in the Central Lakes
Conference.
Gopher verbal Nate Triplett of Delano (MN) High ran for 141 yards
on 20 carries and caught three passes for 54 yards as he had one rushing and one
receiving touchdown as Delano rebounded from their first loss to defeat
Watertown-Mayer 21-7. Triplett has
104 carries for 915 yards with 14 touchdowns (12 rushing).
Gopher verbal Jay Thomas of Oakdale (MN) Tartan scored on a 86- and
65-yard runs and threw a 26-yard touchdown pass to Urule Igbavboa as the Titans
defeated Hill-Murray 35-14. Thomas had 19 carries for 191 yards. Thomas has
carried the ball 84 times for 921 yards this season and 13 touchdowns.
Marcel Jones completed nine of 14 passes as he
threw for 293 yards and four touchdowns and ran for another score as the
Spartans beat St. Paul Humboldt 52-7. Simley has won its last three games
after starting the season 0-3. Jones, who was the first player to commit to the
Gophers this year, has completed 82 of 177 passes for 1,283 yards with 12
touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
Athletic Reggie Rock of St. Paul (MN) Cretin Derham Hall had two
carries for nine yards as the Raiders rebounded from two straight losses to
defeat Hopkins 35-14. Rock, who is getting looks from Florida, Florida State,
Minnesota, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame and Wisconsin, has completed 49 of 92
passes for 848 yards and five touchdowns this season.
Junior wide receiver Kimuel Royston, who attended the Gopher
football camp, had six catches for 159 yards and two touchdowns. He had 53- and
40-yard touchdown catches from sophomore quarterback Joe Springer. He also had
12 tackles as a defensive back.
Quinn Hendel, a 6-3, 215-pound running back from
Plymouth (MN) Wayzata High,
had 5-yard touchdown run and finished with 82 yards on 271 carries as
the Trojans lost for the first time, falling to Minnetonka 22-14. Hendel has 128
carries for 802 yards and seven touchdowns.
Zach Larsen of Northfield had six carries for 37
yards as he helped lead the Raiders to a 45-6 over Prior Lake. The Raiders have
outscored their opponents 208-24 this season. Larsen has 30 carries for 171
yards and three touchdowns.
Junior quarterback Adam Weber of Arden Hills (MN) Mounds Views
completed 13 of 23 passes for 209 yards for three touchdowns, but it was not
enough as the Mustangs fell 39-33 to White Bear Lake. He is the son of
former Gophers player Bobby Webber. Weber has completed 57 of 108
passes for 1,043 yards for 10 touchdowns this season.
