The second member of the Gopher hockey freshmen class is 6-foot-2, Minnetonka native, Justin Holl.
Q & A With Gopher Defenseman Aaron Ness
"Working out and skating down here all summer with the rest of the team. A lot of guys have seen a lot of gains and it will be good to get back on the ice again and have all that hard work pay off."
As an upperclassman this season, what do you see you role being in 2010-2011?
"I feel like I need to be a leader both on and off the ice. I have had just OK seasons here and my game needs to make a big step this season. I feel like I am ready and have done everything I needed to do this summer to get me there."
What are your goals you have set for yourself this year?
"I have set so many goals both team and individually. Having just average seasons here the past two years is unacceptable for a program such as ours. I know that the guys and myself are going to do whatever it takes this year to be on top."
Who do you think is a player that can step up and be a difference maker this season?
"I feel like we have so many difference makers this year on this team. We need everyone to identify their roles and stick with them. If we can find a way to gel and do our jobs we will be a very tough team to beat."
Who is an incoming freshmen that can make an instant impact?
"All of our freshman have tons of potential, but until the puck drops at our first game nobody can tell who will do what."
What rivalry series do you get most hyped up for?
"Pretty much any series in our league is a battle. The WCHA is filled with such talent and hard work that winning games consistently is difficult. If I had to pick one it would be North Dakota."
What are your expectations for the Gophers this season?
"Expectations are high. Obviously the goal at the end of the year is to make it to the Frozen Four and do some damage there, but for right now we are all focused on that first practice and that first game and we will take it from there."
