Howard Pulley Rallies for 66-59 Win

Joe Coleman scores 21 points to lead Howard Pulley

Howard Pulley rallied from a ten-point first half deficit to defeat Seattle Rotary 66-59 in their opening game at the Boo Williams Invitational in Hampton, Virginia. GoldenSports.Net will be in attendance in Virginia with recaps this weekend.

Howard Pulley trailed 23-13, but rallied to tie the score at 27-27. However, Seattle Rotary scored nine of the last eleven points of the half to take a 36-29 halftime lead.

The two teams battle back and forth in the second half and Seattle rotary took a 58-55 lead. However, they turned the ball over on back-to-back trips down the court as they tried to spread the floor. Marvin Singleton took the ball from midcourt and dinked the ball to put Pulley up 59-58. Joe Coleman scored a lay-up and made the free throw to complete the three-point play to make it a four-point game. They sealed the win with clutch free throw shooting down the stretch.

Coleman had 21 points as he made five of nine shots from the field and ten of 13 from the line. Isaiah Zierden and Columbia Heights guard Zach Lofton each scored twelve points in the win.

Anthony Wroten Jr., ranked #11 in the country by ESPN, had 21 points for Seattle Rotary.

Howard Pulley plays South Carolina Ravens at 11:00 Saturday.
