Kevin Whaley to transfer from Minnesota

Head football coach Tim Brewster announced today that redshirt freshman running back Kevin Whaley has requested to be released from his scholarship obligations and will be permitted to transfer from the University of Minnesota. Whaley was indefinitely suspended from the Gopher football program for violating team rules and policies following Minnesota's appearance in the Insight Bowl.

Kevin Whaley played in eleven games with two starts as a redshirt freshman. He rushed 88 times for 367 yards (4.2 yards per carry) with two touchdowns. Whaley had one reception with six yards.
