Mike Chambers, a wide receiver from Cuyahoga Falls left the Minnesota football team in 2007 and transferred to Division II Findlay, due to a lack of playing time. Chambers had six catches for 54 yards in 2007 after he finishing with 19 catches for 231 yards in 2006. He emerged for the Oilers last year and set a school record for receptions in a season and a single game record for receiving yards.
Mike Chambers
started in all 11 games for the Oilers and was named second team all-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Chambers was voted as a second team all-Super Region 3 selection by Daktronics and second team all-region by Don Hansen's Football Gazette.
Chambers led the team with 74 receptions and 915 receiving yards. He had five touchdown receptions. His 74 receptions set a new single season record at Findlay and was second in the GLIAC and 11th in the nation. Chambers rushed the ball for 35 yards and had two rushing touchdowns,
Chambers had a school record 195 yards receiving against Ashland as he made a season-high 12 receptions. He had over 90 yards receiving in five games. Chambers started three games for the Oilers at safety and had 23 tackles and two interceptions. He had 11 tackles against Northern Michigan.
Chambers started the 2007 season at cornerback before moving back to wide receiver after the team's opening loss to
Bowling Green
.
Chambers caught three passes for 33 yards and had one carry for 38 yards against
Miami
of Ohio in their 41-35 win. He hauled in three passes for 21 yards in their 45-31 loss to
Purdue
. However, he was on the field just two plays versus
Ohio State
.
Chambers redshirted as a freshman. He was a 2005 graduate of Walsh-Jesuit High School and was a two-time all-city, all-conference and all-county selection. He was named to the 2004 Associated Press Division III All-Ohio First Team after catching 70 passes for 1,494 yards (21.3 avg.) with 15 touchdowns and also recording three interceptions, returning two for scores.
