Gopher Defensive Coordinator Ted Roof Resigns

Minnesota defensive coordinator Ted Roof has resigned his position with the Gophers to pursue a similar position at Auburn University. The announcement of Roof’s resignation was made Tuesday afternoon by Gophers’ head coach Tim Brewster.

Ted Roof came to Minnesota after having served as the head coach at Duke.

“Our defense improved a great deal under Coach Roof this past season,” Minnesota head coach Tim Brewster said. “Good coaches are always going to be in demand and I wish Ted the best of luck in the future.”

Brewster will conduct a national search to fill the defensive coordinator position. No timetable has been set for the search.

Brewster was traveling Tuesday and was unavailable for further comment.
