Moses Alipate, a 6-foot-6, 228-pound quarterback from Bloomington (MN) Jefferson who committed to Minnesota in February, is in Orlando to play in the Under Armour All-America Game, which will be televised Jan. 4 on ESPN. Alipate led the Jaguars to a 4-5 mark this season, losing to Eagan in the first round. Alipate was the second Gopher commitment for the Class of 2009.
Moses Alipate
had originally planned to graduate early and enroll at
Minnesota
this month. However, he decided practicing and playing in the Under Armour All-America Game and then enrolling at Minnesota right after that would be a tough transition. Alipate is one of three quarterbacks for the White Team, joining
USC
commit
Matt Barkley
and
UCLA
verbal
Richard Brehaut
.
Alipate is playing on the Jefferson basketball team along with younger brother Marcus, a 6-foot sophomore guard. The Jaguars are off to a 3-0 start this season as Alipate is averaging 10.7 points per game.
Alipate led the Jaguars to a 4-5 mark this season, losing to Eagan in the first round. He completed 97 of 179 passes for 1,522 yards and 14 touchdowns. Alipate also rushed for six touchdowns.
Alipate led Bloomington Jefferson to a 2-7 record as a junior. He completed 67 of 146 passes for 907 yards with seven touchdowns and 12 interceptions. His two best games were in wins over Apple Valley and Eagan.
Alipate completed seven of 13 passes for 155 yards and two touchdowns in their 25-20 win over Apple Valley. He completed 13 of 25 passes for 269 yards and four scores in a 36-29 win over Eagan.
Alipate was the Jaguars' second-leading scorer on the hardwood as Jefferson finished 14-11 last year. He is averaging 14.6 points per game and has scored in double figures in all but two games this season.
Alipate helped lead Jefferson to a 23-6 record as a sophomore as they advanced to the Minnesota Class AAAA State tournament. He averaged 8.9 points per game this season and scored in double figures in 10 of 29 games, including three of their four playoff contests. Alipate scored 16 points in the section finals against Minnetonka and had 14 in their state tournament loss to Apple Valley.
He completed 79 of 187 passes for 892 yards with 13 interceptions and three touchdowns for the Jaguars as a sophomore, when they finished 0-9.
