Jamal Abu-Shamala Named Player of the Week

Jamal Abu-Shamala, a 6-foot-5 senior guard/forward was named GoldenSports.net/Outback Steakhouse's Gopher Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts in leading Minnesota to home wins over Eastern Washington and North Dakota State. Abu-Shamala scored 31 points in the two wins.

Jamal Abu-Shamala made four of five shots from the field, including his only attempt from three-point range as he finished with 11 points in a 88-67 win over Eastern Washington.

Abu-Shamala scored a team-high 20 points to lead the Gophers to a 90-76 win over North Dakota State. He was six of 10 from the field, including two of four from three-point range. Abu-Shamala made all six attempts from the line.

Abu-Shamala is averaging 9.2 points per game this season.
