The Minnesota Gophers will have 13 confirmed visitors in their biggest recruiting weekend of the year for the Michigan game Saturday, according to sources close to the program. Gophers fans are hoping for a similar week as last year's Ohio State game, where the Gopher coaching staff brought in many top recruits and came out with several top commits.
Wide receiver
Bryce McNeal
of Minneapolis (MN) Breck, tight end Ra'shede Hageman from Minneapolis (MN) Washburn, cornerback
Michael Carter
of Pompano Beach (FL) Blanche Ely, wide receiver
Bryant Allen
from Maplewood (MO) Richmond Heights, defensive end
Matt Garin
of Apple Valley (MN) Eastview, defensive tackle
Nosa Eguae
from Arlington (TX) Mansfield Summit, cornerback
Turmour Battle
of Denver (CO) South, guard Sheldon Richardson from St. Louis (MO) Gateway, safety Brent Singleton of Plantation (FL) American Heritage and defensive end Joey Searcy of Grand Prairie (TX) High will make their official visit this weekend to the University of Minnesota.
Linebacker Sam Maresh of Champlain Park,
MarQueis Gray
of Indianapolis (IN) Ben Davis and
Spencer Reeves
from Dallas (TX) Skyline, who signed with the Gophers in February, will also make a visit this weekend. The NCAA allows a player to make a second official visit a year after his first visit. They are technically "free agents," but have all indicated their interest in playing for Minnesota.
Maresh is grayshriting this season after undergoing heart surgery. Gray is awaiting word on his college entrance test and Reeves has already received a passing score and will join the team for the 2009 season.
