Decker, Tow-Arnett Earn Academic All-District

Two University of Minnesota football student-athletes have earned Academic All-District V recognition from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Junior wide receiver Eric Decker (Cold Spring, Minn.) and junior center Jeff Tow-Arnett (Redwood Falls, Minn.) both earned First-Team CoSIDA Academic All-District V honors.

Eric Decker is a business marketing education major and currently holds a 3.47 grade-point average. He ranks No. 1 in the Big Ten in both receiving yards and receptions. Decker recently broke his own school record for receptions in a season, with 73 going into this week's game vs. Michigan.

Jeff Tow-Arnett is also majoring in business marketing education. He boasts a 3.81 grade-point average. Tow-Arnett has started seven of the Gophers' nine games this season. He missed the Montana State and Florida Atlantic games after suffering a significant knee injury against Bowling Green. But he fought his way back on the field to open the Big Ten season at Ohio State and has started every Big Ten contest.

By virtue of earning first-team accolades, both Decker and Tow-Arnett will be eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America honors. Both Gophers will be placed on a national ballot. CoSIDA Academic All-America accolades will be announced Nov. 25.
