Denver C Trevor Williams commits to Colorado State

Trevor Williams, a 6-foot-11, 254-pound center from Denver (CO) Lutheran, committed to Colorado State after visiting the campus this weekend, according to Tru Playaz AAU coach Tree Adams. Williams was expected to visit Minnesota in two weeks and had played to visit Tulsa later this month. GoldenSports.Net caught up with Adams to learn the latest

Trevor Williams had received scholarship offers from Washington State, Purdue, Colorado and Colorado State and UCLA, Kansas, West Virginia, Texas Tech, TCU, Minnesota, Marquette and Oklahoma also showed interest. He attended the Colorado and Colorado State Elite camp.

Tree Adams said that his big man was getting plenty of interest.

"Oklahoma was planning on coming in for a home visit and TCU was interested."

Adams admitted that he was caught of guard by the commitment.

"I'm surprised. I thought he would take some visits and compared notes. His mom really wanted him to go to Colorado State."

Williams had 57 blocks and 23 steals as the Lights finished 16-5 overall and 6-3 in the Metro league last year, while averaging 12.2 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. He scored in double figures in 15 of 21 games. He had a season-best 27 points versus Battle Mountain. Williams grabbed double figures in rebounding in 14 of 21 games. He shot 54% from the field and 33.3% from the free throw line and was named first team All-Metro League. Williams was named honorable mention Class AAA All-State.

Williams also played on the 3-6 football team last season as he had 22 tackles and caught two passes.
Adams admits that he is not disappointed that Williams is not spending his weekends on the gridiron this season.

"I'm glad that he is not playing. I did not want to see him risking getting hurt."

Williams, who just turned 17 in July, played for the Tru-Playaz AAU team in the Hoosier Shootout, Kentucky Hoopfest Great American Shootout, the Tru-Playaz tournament in Dallas, Nike Main Event and Double Pump in Los Angeles.

Williams played in the Nike Hoops Jamboree last summer
