Minnesota Recruits Play in Global Challenge

Royce White has nine points in USA win

Minnesota commit Royce White and Gopher recruiting targets Rodney Williams, Harrison Barnes and Cory Joseph are playing in the Nike Global Challenge held at Liberty High School in Hillsboro, Ore., from August 8-10. The tournament features International teams from Serbia, Senegal, Lithuania, Puerto Rico and Canada and three teams made up of the top players from the United States.

Royce White, Rodney Williams and Harrison Barnes are all playing on the Team United States One that defeated Senegal 81-68.

White made three of five shots from the field, two of two from three-point range and one of four from the line as he finished with nine points, two rebounds and two blocked shots.

Williams missed his only shot, a three-pointer and failed to score. He added two rebounds and one steal.

Barnes, who is just a junior, made two of eight shots from the field, was zero for three from three-point range and two of two from the line as he finished with six points and eight rebounds.

Their team will face the Canadian team, which defeated Lithuania 83-78. Cory Joseph, the younger brother of Minnesota incoming freshman Devoe Joseph, is on that team. He made two of six from the field, one of three from beyond the arc and both free throws as he finished with seven points, four rebounds and two assists.
