Net Gain Edges 43 Hoops for Twin Cities Title

Net Gain held off a furious comeback from 43 Hoops to win the 17-and-under title of the Twin Cities Summer Classic, 48-47. 43 Hoops scored the first basket of the game, but Net Gain went on a 10-0 run and expanded the margin to 23-9. 43 Hoops cut the lead to 29-20 at halftime. Trent Lockett of Net Gain scored the first basket of the second half, but 43 Hoops scored the next eight points.

Trent Lockett made two free throws to make the score 48-44 with 18 seconds left. Damarcus Cruz from Robbinsdale Armstrong made a three-pointer with eight seconds left to cut the lead to 48-47. Andy Burns was fouled with five seconds left, but missed the front end of the one-and-one. Mike Bruesewitz grabbed the rebound for 43 Hoops, but lost the ball while dribbling upcourt, sealing the win for Net Gain.

Lockett led Net Gain with 16 points, eight in each half. Sam Dower and Cole Stefan added eight points each. Chanse Creekmur and Kellen Taylor both made two three-pointers as they finished with six points.

Marc Sonnen scored 11 of his 16 points in the second half. Bruesewitz had 14 points, seven in each half.
