Royce White Suspended for Second Time

Royce White, a 6-foot-8 junior forward from Minneapolis DeLaSalle, has been suspended for the second time this season, according to a source with the Howard Pulley program. White missed the first two games of the season and did not play in Friday or Saturday's contests. White is considered a must-get recruit for the Minnesota Gophers coaching staff.

Royce White has had an up-and-down junior season. He is averaging 21.2 points per game, but missed the first two games of the season. The Islanders started the season 0-7 and are just 12-11 after losing to Minneapolis North 50-49 last night.

White played in the LeBron James US Skills Academy in Akron, Ohio and The Nike Global Challenge at the University of Portland this past summer.

White was GoldenSports.net's choice for Sabes Foundation Invitational Tournament MVP. White was named second-team All-Metro by GoldenSports.Net as he averaged 21.8 points and led the Islanders to a 19-8 mark last year.

White has received 25 scholarship offers from schools such as Cincinnati, Northern Iowa, Miami, Creighton, Iowa, Illinois, Michigan State, Minnesota, Iowa State, Texas A&M, Purdue, Arkansas, Seton Hall, Texas, Arizona and Southern California.

White has scored in double figures in every game the past two years and scored 20 or more points 11 times this year and had a season-best 33 points against Minneapolis Henry. White had scored 20 or more points in the past four games before the suspension.

White is expected to have a hearing to determine his status with the team this week.

White is an excellent shot blocker and rebounder who has worked hard on his offensive game, ball-handling and shown expanded shooting range.
