Brodrick Smith, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound athlete from Garden City (KS) High who visited Minnesota for the Gophers-Wisconsin game, committed to the Gophers on local station KIUL. The versatile Smith, who played quarterback, running back and wide receiver for the Buffaloes, had planned to announce his college decision on December 1st, but decided to postpone his choice.
