Three Gophers Named TSN Freshman All-Big Ten

Minnesota quarterback Adam Weber, running back Duane Bennett and guard D.J. Burris were honored by The Sporting News today as the magazine announced its 2007 Freshman All-Big Ten Team.

Minnesota's three offensive selections were the most of any team in the Big Ten and were led by Adam Weber, who set school single-season records for passing yards (2,895), completions (258), touchdown passes (24) and total offense (3,512) during the 2007 season.

Duane Bennett, who made six of his eight starts during Big Ten games, finished the season as the Gophers' third-leading rusher with 442 yards on 107 carries with three rushing touchdowns. He compiled 370 yards during Big Ten play and ranked No. 2 in the league among freshman in rushing during conference games.

D.J. Burris started 11 of 12 games at right guard and helped pave the way for an offensive unit that averaged 407.5 yards per game. Minnesota's offensive line also yielded just 13 sacks on 467 pass attempts during 2007, which currently ranks 10th in the NCAA in sacks allowed.
