Paul Carter, a 6-foot-8, 195-pound forward from Missouri State University-West Plains CC who signed his letter of intent with Minnesota, will face Minnesota West in Worthington tonight and Minneapolis Community Saturday. Carter, the son of Ron Carter who played two seasons in the NBA, is averaging 15.4 points per game this season and he has led the Grizzlies to a 7-1 start.

helped Missouri State/West Plains bounced back from its first loss to defeat Pensacola (3-2) 98-69 last Thursday, ending the Pirates’ three-game win streak. The Grizzlies fell behind 40-37 at halftime but out-shot PJC from the field 63.6% (21/33) to 37% (10/27) in the second period. Carter scored 14 of his 22 points in the second half asnd added six assists, three steals and three blocked shots.
Carter helped the Grizzlies to a 62-28 halftime advantage as they cruised to a 128-67 rout of the Arkansas Tech JV Friday. The Grizzlies out-shot the junior varsity squad from the field 58.6% (51/87) to 35.3% (24/68) and dominated the glass, 46-22. Carter made 9 of 12 shots from the field as he scored 20 points. He added eight assists, two steals and one blocked shots.
Missouri State/West Plains overcame a 41-35 halftime deficit by out-shooting Division II Kishwaukee from the field, 57.7% (15/26) to 29% (9/31), in the second period to chalk up a 76-61 victory Saturday. Carter finished with 19 points, 15 rebounds and four steals.
