Gopher Receiver Mike Chambers to Transfer
Chambers caught three passes for 33 yards and had one carry for 38 yards against Miami of Ohio in their 41-35 win. He hauled in three passes for 21 yards in their 45-31 loss to Purdue. However, he was on the field just two plays versus Ohio State.
Chambers redshirted as a freshman and would have to sit out an entire season if he transferred to a Division I school, so he would like transfer down to a College Football Championship Subdivision (formerly Division I-AA) school where he could be eligible next season.
Chambers is from Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Youngstown State is the lone College Football Championship Subdivision school in the state.
Chambers was a 2005 graduate of Walsh-Jesuit High School and was a two-time all-city, all-conference and all-county selection. He was named to the 2004 Associated Press Division III All-Ohio First Team after catching 70 passes for 1,494 yards (21.3 avg.) with 15 touchdowns and also recording three interceptions, returning two for scores.
