Colton Iverson to Get Home Visit from Tubby

Colton Iverson, a 6-foot-9 big man from Yankton (SD) High, visited Nebraska this past weekend and Minnesota the previous week. Iverson will receive a home visit from Minnesota head coach Tubby Smith Wednesday, according to Yankton head coach Randy Gross. Iverson is expected to pick between the two schools and will likely sign in the November signing period.

Colton Iverson saw his recruitment go through the roof after he led the South Dakota Heat AAU team to the Hoosier Shootout 17-and-under title. He became a prime recruiting target for Minnesota and its coaching staff.

Gophers head coach Tubby Smith is making a home visit with Iverson tomorrow. He is scheduled to speak at the Yankton Quarterback Club, appear at the school and have dinner with the Iverson family, according to Gross.

Iverson averaged 15 points and 9.7 rebounds per game for Yankton, which finished at 16-10 with a fifth-place finish in the state tournament.

Iverson scored 20 points in the consolation championship as Yankton defeated Mitchell 68-42. He scored 15 points in a 47-37 win over Rapid City Stevens in the consolation semifinals.

Iverson shined this summer as a member of the South Dakota Heat AAU team. He helped lead the Heat to the Hoosier Shootout title as he scored 28 points in the championship game and he was named MVP.

He is receving interest from South Dakota, Minnesota, Colorado State, Washington State, Nebraska, New Mexico, Indiana State, Richmond, Eastern Kentucky, North Dakota State, South Dakota State, Iowa, UCLA, Marquette, Florida, Iowa State, and Creighton.

Iverson previously told GoldenSports.Net that he enjoyed his visit to Minnesota.

"This a great place. I really like it. Good people. Good environment. It has been a good trip so far," he said.

Iverson will be expected to carry a bigger share of the load next year at Yankton as he is the lone returning starter and they welcome back just three juniors from the varisty roster. However, Iverson has high hopes for the upcoming season.

"I think that we should have a pretty good season," he said. "We've got some kids in my class that are capable of stepping upon the peirmeter, so we should be all right this season."

Iverson comes from a basketball family. His father is the head girl's coach at Mount Mary, where his sister is a senior. His other sister, a sophomore, plays at South Dakota.
