JC Forward Johnnie Lett Gets Minnesota Attention

Johnnie Lett, a 6-foot-9, 240-pound forward from Okaloosa-Walton (FL) CC, is another JC player on the Minnesota recruiting radar. Lett signed with Virginia in the fall of 2005, but failed to qualify. Lett averaged 2.9 points and 4.2 rebounds per game as a freshman for Okaloosa-Walton, who also has Keith Ramsey on their roster. Ramsey is also being recruited by Minnesota.

Johnnie Lett averaged 15.6 points, 16 rebounds and four blocks per game while leading Mobile (AL) Ben C. Rain to a 17-8 record as a high school senior. Lett signed with Virginia in the fall, but failed to qualify.

Lett planned on taking a prep year at Hargrave Military Academy, with the hopes of playing for Virginia in 2007-08. Unfortunately, his spot at Hargrave has been unexpectedly taken by a current basketball player at the school who failed to academically qualify.

The Virginia coaching staff tried to convince Lett to take a prep year at Brewster Academy (N.H.) instead, but his family did not have the money for the prep school.

Okaloosa-Walton finished 23-5 overall and 8-4 in the Panhandle Conference. Okaloosa-Walton head coach Bruce Stewart told GoldenSports.Net that he will return all five starters for a team that figures to be ranked among the top teams in the country.

Lett is also hearing from Georgia, UAB, Arkansas, Missouri and Tennessee.
