Howard Pulley wins 17-and-under Sabes Title

The Howard Pulley Panthers defeated the Illinois Warriors 69-49 to win the 17-and-under Sabes Foundation Basketball Invitational at Bloomington Jefferson. The title was the second straight for the host Howard Pulley team.
Howard Pulley led 27-15 at halftime and went on a 23-11 run to start out the second half to put the game away.
Armond Battle
led Howard Pulley with 17 points and
Royce White
added 16 in the win.
Howard Pulley defeated the Wisconsin Playground Warriors 60-57 in the semifinals. They trailed 57-56 with under a minute to go before rallying for the win. White paced the Panthers with 19 points and
Jared Berggren
added 16. The Wisconsin Playground Warriors were led by 21 points from
Kwamain Mitchell
. Eddie Gilgenbach added 16 and Chris Prom scored 14 points.
The Illinois Warriors advanced to the finals with a 62-59 win over K.C. Pump N Run.
Denver Holmes
' three-pointer at the buzzer rimmed out. Luke Fabrizus scored 24 for the Warriors. Mark Yelovich added 15. K.C. Pump N Run was led by 13 points from Holmes. Dominque Morrison had 10 points, Dominque Nexton scored nine and
Travis Releford
added eight.
Howard Pulley started the day with a 56-39 win over Portland 3-point. White led the way with 19 points for Pulley. Portland was paced by Mike James with 21 points.
Wisconsin Playground bested St. Louis Eagles 64-60 in overtime.
K.C. Pump N Run overwhlemed the Dakota Schoolers 83-45 as five players reached double figures. Holmes had 17 points and Newton added 13. Morrison had 12 and
Steve Moore
and Mike McRoberts scored 10 points each. Releford and
Ty Modupe
each had eight points.
The Illinois Warriors defeated the South Dakota Heat in the quarterfinals.
