Sabes Foundation Basketball Invitational Info

The 7th Annual Sabes Foundation Basketball Invitational will be held at Bloomington Jefferson this weekend. Teams from Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, Oregon, South Dakota and Wisconsin will participate. Several nationally ranked players will compete, including many of Minnesota’s best. The event will include 17U, 16U and 15U teams and starts Friday and goes through Sunday.

The 17U Howard Pulley Panthers have started the spring/summer 2007 AAU basketball season by defeating some of the best teams in America. They won the Bronze Division of the Nike Boo Williams Spring Invitational, finished in the Final-4 of the Kingwood Classic Platinum Division and lost in the Championship game of the of the Jayhawk Invitational this past weekend. Members of the team include Wisconsin commits Jared Berggren (Princeton) and Jordan Taylor (Benilde-SM, plus Super Sophomore’s Mike Broghammer (Hopkins), Royce White (DeLaSalle) and Rodney Williams Jr. (Cooper). Other members include juniors Armond Battle (Benilde-SM), Carrington Tankson (Osseo), Max VanOrdstrand (Burnsville), Jerome Vaughn (Henry) and Southern Cal commit Angelo “Bear” Johnson of Stoneridge Prep School in Los Angeles. The team is coached by Antwan Harris who has been named 2007 coach of the USA National Junior basketball team.
