Royce White, a 6-foot-7 sophomore forward from Minneapolis (MN) De LaSalle, is perhaps the top player in the state in his class. He was named second-team All-Metro by GoldenSports.Net as he averaged 21.8 points as he led the Islanders to a 19-8 mark. GoldenSports.Net has learned that Minnesota and new head coach Tubby Smith have offered White a scholarship, along with two other top programs.
Royce White
, a 6-foot-6 sophomore forward from Minneapolis (MN) De LaSalle, continues to show why he is one of the top sophomores in the Midwest. White shined for the Howard Pulley AAU team at the Boo Williams Invitational, leading them to the Bronze Division championship and at the Kingwood Classic, where they advanced to the Final Four of the Platinum Division. He finished as the team's second-leading scorer in both events.
His strong national play earned him offers from
Minnesota
,
Iowa State
and
Wisconsin
, according to Howard Pulley founder, Rene Pulley.
White scored in double figures in every game this year and scored 20 or more points 15 times and had a 31-point effort against Houston (TX) Westbury Christian and Breck, and 33 versus Blake.
White averaged 5.2 points per game as a freshman as he helped lead the Islanders to the Class AAA title, defeating Duluth East 65-47 in the title game. De LaSalle won its three state tournament games by an average of 20 points as they beat Totino Grace 61-36 and St. Thomas Academy 63-44. White scored 20 points in the three state tournament games.
White is an excellent shotblocker and rebounder who has worked hard on his offensive game and shown expanded shooting range.
