The five Minnesota 17-and-under AAU teams participating in Houston's Kingwood Classic this weekend started their play with a 3-2 combined record. These teams will attract the attention of many Division I coaches in attendance and several players’ recruitment is expected to hit another level as 300 teams will be playing in the 17-and-under division.

Howard Pulley Black fell to Athletes First (OK) Friday evening 44-42 after letting a 40-32 lead slip through their fingers. Angelo Johnson led the way with 17 points.

Howard Pulley White defeated the Kent Hornets 68-37 Friday as Jerry Sweezy scored twelve points.

The Minnesota Magic Elite fell to Spiece Indy Heat 77-55 Friday.

43 Hoops, coached by Chris Carr, bested the Alaska Stars 79-58 and the second 43 Hoops team defeated the Emerald Pioneers 74-55.
