Howard Pulley Wins Boo Williams Bronze Title

The Howard Pulley Panthers won the Bronze division of the Boo Williams Invitational in Hampton, Virginia this weekend. They finished 4-2 this weekend, losing to the Mean Streets, which lost in the gold Division championship game, 49-48, to host Boo Williams and to the Georgia Stars, which won the Silver division. GoldenSports.Net was on hand to watch some of Minnesota's top talent.

Howard Pulley started the Boo Williams Invitational with a 61-51 win over the D.C. Blue Devils. Angelo Johnson led Pulley with 15 points. Sophomore Royce White of De LaSalle added 10 points. Junior Jordan Taylor and sophomore Rodney Williams scored nine points each. Williams made three three-pointers. Jerome Vaughn of Minneapolis Henry and Carrington Tankson of Osseo finished with six points each. Armond Battle of Benidle-St. Margaret had four points and sophomore Mike Broghammer from Hopkins scored two in the win.

Howard Pulley lost to the Georgia Stars 58-56 in double overtime. Johnson led the way with 17 points. He scored all six of the team's overtime points. White scored 10 of his 15 points in the first half. Taylor and Williams scored seven points each. Tankson and Jared Berggren of Princeton added three points each and Battle scored two.

Howard Pulley fell to Mean Streets 57-48 in their final pool-play contest. They finished 1-2 in pool play and went to the Bronze Division playoffs.

Pulley defeated Team Final, which featured standout Tyreke Evans, 63-58. White paced Pulley with 17 points. Johnson had 15 points, while Battle added 11 and Williams had 10 points.

Pullley cruised to a 95-55 victory over Albany City Rocks in the semifinals. Johnson finished with 18 points and White and Taylor chipped in with 16 points each. Williams had 11 and Berggren and Broghammer had 10 points each.

Pulley won the Bronze Division title game 62-59 as Johnson had a team-high 19 points and Taylor added 15.

Howard Pulley will play in the Kingwood Classic April 20-22 and will host their own tournament at Williams Arena May 10-12.
