Eden Prairie OL Ryan Orton Commits to Gophers

Ryan Orton, a 6-foot-4, 260-pound offensive lineman from Eden Prairie (MN) High, has committed to Minnesota, according to sources close to his recruitment. He is the eighth player to commit to the Gophers. Orton helped lead The Eagles to an 11-2 mark as a junior.

Ryan Orton was a key blocker for a punishing Eagles rushing attack that featured Jakob Reding, who rushed for 1,222 yards last season. He helped the team advance to Class 5A semifinals, losing to Cretin Derham Hall 42-21 in the Metrodome.

Orton is also a standout track and field performer. He finished finishing seventh in the AAA Boy's True Team Track and Field championships with a toss of 48-11 3/4 and qualified for the state tournament with a toss of 50-2¼.
