Casey Crawford, a 6-foot-9 center/power forward from Overland Park (KS) Blue Valley North, will not visit Minnesota as planned this weekend. GoldenSports.net caught up with the talented big man to find the latest on his recruitment.

Casey Crawford is one of the top big men in the Midwest. Crawford helped lead the K.C. Pump and Run to the Price Chopper/Kansas City Prep Invitational title the last week in July and the Final Eight of the adidas Super 64 in Las Vegas the previous week.

Crawford led Overland Park (KS) Blue Valley North to a 19-3 mark last season. The Mustangs started the season 1-2 before winning 18 straight games but eventually losing to Shawnee Mission West 59-47 in the Class 6A Sub-State Basketball finals. They finished 10-0 in conference play and he was named the Eastern Kansas League Player of the Year. Crawford averaged 17.0 points, 9.2 rebounds and 3.8 blocked shots per game last season. He led the team in scoring 15 times and tied for scoring honors once. Crawford shot 48.2% from the field, 33.3% from three-point range and 70.1% from the line.

Crawford received numerous honors as a junior as he was named 1st Team All Metro, 1st Team All Sun, 1st Team All Metro Sports. Crawford was named 2nd Team All State by the Topeka Journal and 3rd Team All State by the Wichita Eagle.

Crawford had planned to visit Minnesota September 9th, West Virginia September 16th and Wichita State September 23th. However, he will not visit Minnesota this weekend. The Gophers recently received a commitment from Bryce Webster and will look at help at other positions with their remaining scholarships.

"Head coach Dan Monson and I agreed to put it on hold for now," Crawford said.

Crawford said that he will have a home visit from Texas A&M September 13th and Tulane September 20th. He said that he will give one of the two schools an official visit. However, it may be difficult for him to visit Tulane, due to the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.

"I don't even think that I can visit because of what happened," he said.

Crawford said that he plans to sign during the early signing period and hopes to make his decision in October.

Crawford is also an excellent student who posted a 25 on the ACT and 1580 on his SAT. He plans to major in business.
