Stephon Hopkins Transfers to Delaware State

Stephon Hopkins, a 6-3, 245-pound defensive end/linebacker has transferred from Minnesota to Delaware State, a Division I-AA where he will be immediately eligible.

Stephon Hopkins is a 2002 graduate from Detroit (MI) Renaissance, where he was an all-state, all-conference and all-city selection in his senior year.

Hopkins redshirted in 2002 and did not play in 2003. He bulked up 20 pounds for the 2004 season, which was supposed to allow him to play inside linebacker, but he did not get onto the field last season.

Due to older, more seasoned players already at both linebacker and defensive line, he didn't play.

Hopkins will have two years of eligibility. He is expected to help a defense that was sixth in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in points allowed (32 points per game) and total defense (377.9 yards per game).

Hopkins is not the only Big Ten newcomer to arrive at Delaware State. Jamaal Jones, a 6-foot-4, 305-pound defensive tackle, transferred to the Hornets from Purdue. Recommended Stories
