Vincent Grier is CBN Big Ten Newcomer of the Year

Minnesota junior forward Vincent Grier has been named College Basketball News' Big Ten Newcomer of the Year. Grier averaged 17.9 points and 5.3 rebounds per game this season as he led the Gophers to a 10-6 mark in the conference and 20-9 overall. Grier was also named to the College Basketball News' ten-player All-Big Ten squad. He is the second consecutive Gopher to be named Big Ten Newcomer of the Year. Kris Humphries received the award in 2004.

Vincent Grier was joined on the College Basketball News All-Big Ten Newcomer team by Big Ten Freshman of the Year D. J. White of Indiana, Iowa State transfer Adam Haluska from Iowa, freshman Geary Claxton of Penn State and JC transfer Carl Landry from Purdue.
