Gopher commitment Eric Decker of Cold Springs (MN) Rocori caught
three passes for 24 yards, including a 6-yard touchdown catch that put the
Spartans ahead 7-0 as they rolled to a 35-14 win over Detroit Lakes. Rocori is
ranked #4 in Class AAAA. Decker has 29 catches for 392 yards (13.5 per catch)
and seven receiving touchdowns this season.
Gopher verbal Nate Triplett of Delano (MN) High ran for 107 yards
on 23 carries and had one touchdown as Delano lost for the first time, falling
to Becker 12-7. Triplett has 84 carries for 774 yards with
12 touchdowns (11 rushing) in Delano's four victories. He attended
Saturday’s Gopher game versus Northwestern.
Gopher verbal Jay Thomas of Oakdale (MN) Tartan was limited to 10
carries for 15 yards and one catch for 21 yards as the Titans lost to Mahtomedi
23-15. Thomas had scored nine touchdowns in the previous two games. Thomas has
carried the ball 65 times for 730 yards this season.
Marcel Jones completed 14 of 27 passes for 231
yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions as Simley got its second
straight win with a 24-7 victory over North St. Paul. Jones finished with 63
rushing yards on 20 carries. Jones, who was the first player to commit to the
Gophers this year, has completed 73 of 163 passes for 990 yards with eight
touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
Joey Hiben of Waconia was held to one carry for
8 yards in a 21-14 loss to Dassel Cokato. He had seven tackles and one sack.
Hiben, who is considering the Gophers along with favorite Notre Dame, had rushed
16 times for 149 yards for the season.
Athletic Reggie Rock of St. Paul (MN) Cretin Derham Hall completed
18 of 32 passes for 276 yards and one touchdown as the Raiders fell to Wayzata
33-22, losing their second straight game. He also had an 8-yard touchdown
run. Rock, who is getting looks from Florida, Florida State, Minnesota, Miami,
Michigan, Notre Dame and Wisconsin, has completed 49 of 92 passes for 848 yards
and five touchdowns this season.
Junior wide receiver Kimuel Royston, who attended the Gophers
football camp, had two carries for 40 yards and six tackles as a defensive back.
Quinn Hendel, a 6-3, 215-pound running back from
Plymouth (MN) Wayzata High,
had a 3-yard touchdown run in the second quarter and finished with 160
yards on 27 carries as the Trojans, ranked #3 in the state, defeated
Cretin-Derham Hall. He caught a touchdown pass for 51 yards
Zach Larsen of Northfield had nine carries for 36 yards
as he helped lead the Raiders to a 10-0 win over Red Wing. The Raiders have
outscored their opponents 161-18 this season. Larsen has 24 carries for 134
yards and two touchdowns.
Junior quarterback Adam Weber of Arden Hills (MN) Mounds Views
completed nine of 12 passes for 170 yards in the Mustangs’ 31-7 win over
Roseville, their third straight victory. He is the son of former Gophers
player Bobby Webber. Weber has completed 44 of 85 passes for 834 yards
for seven touchdowns this season.
