Gopher verbal Jay Thomas of Oakdale (MN) Tartan scored three
touchdowns, one on a 90-yard kickoff return and had touchdown runs between 22
and 64 yards as the Titans defeated South St. Paul 44-28. Thomas had 118 yards
on only 13 carries and two catches for 14 yards. He has scored nine touchdowns
in the past two games. Thomas has carried the ball 55 times for 715 yards this
season.
Marcel Jones completed seven of 21 passes for 89
yards with one touchdown as Simley got their first win of the season with a
14-10 victory over Hill-Murray. Jones also scored on a 1-yard touchdown run
and finished with 74 rushing yards. Jones, who was the first player to commit to
the Gophers this year, has completed 59 of 136 passes for 759 yards with six
touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
Gopher commitment Eric Decker of Cold Springs (MN) Rocori caught
four passes for 71 yards, including a 9-yard touchdown catch and had four
rushes for a 13 yards as they defeated St. Cloud Tech 8-7. His interception with
1:12 remaining sealed the win for the Spartans. He had one interception as a
free safety. Decker has 26 catches for 368 yards (14.2 per catch) and six
receiving touchdowns.
Gopher commitment Nate Triplett of Delano (MN) High ran for 190
yards on 20 carries and three touchdowns as Delano downed Waconia 34-20.
Triplett has 61 carries for 667 yards with 11 touchdowns (10 rushing) in
Delano's four victories. He attended Saturday’s Gopher game versus
Northwestern.
Joey Hiben of Waconia was held to one carry for
negative 2 yards in the loss to Delano. He had five tackles and one sack.
Hiben, who is considering the Gophers, along with favorite Notre Dame, had rushed
15 times for 141 yards for the season.
Athlete Reggie Rock of St. Paul (MN) Cretin Derham Hall completed
nine of 18 passes for 147 yards and one touchdown as the Raiders fell to
Minnetonka 31-29. He also caught 15-yard pass from Phillip Wills. Rock, who is
getting looks from Florida, Florida State, Minnesota, Miami, Michigan, Notre
Dame and Wisconsin, has completed 31 of 60 passes for 572 yards and four
touchdowns this season.
Junior wide receiver Kimuel Royston, who attended the Gopher
football camp, had two carries for 2 yards and seven tackles as a defensive
back.
Zach Larsen of Northfield helped lead the Raiders
to a 35-12 over New Prague. The Raiders have outscored their opponents 151-18
this season.
Quinn Hendel, a 6-3, 215-pound running back from
Plymouth (MN) Wayzata High, had a 3-yard touchdown run in the second quarter and finished with
120 yards on 15 carries as the Trojans, ranked No. 3 in the state, rolled to a 47-15
win over Edina. He visited Wisconsin and attended the Badgers' game versus Penn State on Saturday. Hendel was in attendance at the Gophers’ win over Illinois
State.
Junior
quarterback Adam Weber of Arden Hills (MN) Mounds Views completed seven
of 15 passes for 116 yards in the Mustangs’ 13-10 win over Woodbury. He is the
son of former Gophers player Bobby Webber. Weber has completed 35
of 73 passes for 664 yards for four touchdowns this season.
