Gophers have 53 named to Big Ten All-Academic Team
Volleyball star Cassie Busse grabs academic honors

Minnesota had 53 student-athletes named to the Fall Sports Big Ten All-Academic Team. The 53 student-athletes were from women’s soccer (11), women’s volleyball (8), football (14) and men’s (7) and women’s (13) cross country.
The student-athletes who qualified for the honors had to have a 3.0 cumulative GPA, had to be in their second year academically with the institution and be a letterwinner in their respective sports.

, Big Ten Volleyball Player of the Year Cassie Busse, Big Ten Volleyball Defensive Player of the Year Paula Gentil, Men’s Cross Country All-Region performer Luke Mullranin and Women’s Cross Country All-Region performer Zoe Nagell.
Earlier this month, Busse was also named a First-Team Academic All-American and Isom was a Second-Team Academic All-American.
With five fall sports and 53 Big Ten All-Academic honorees, Minnesota had the best ratio of Big Ten All-Academic student-athletes per sport in the Big Ten in the fall.
Minnesota women’s volleyball tied with the most Big Ten All-Academic honorees in their sport with eight. The Golden Gophers tied for second in football with 14 players receiving Big Ten All-Academic honors. Men’s cross country and women’s cross country each were also tied for the second-most student-athletes in their sport with seven and 13 respectively. Women’s soccer had the fourth-most among the conference teams with 11 honorees.
