Connelly Stays Home

Minnesota landed their fifth commitment when Red Wing (MN.) senior offensive tackle Nick Connelly committed to the Gophers on Tuesday

The Gophers picked up their fifth commitment for their 2015 class as Red Wing (MN.) senior offensive tackle Nick Connelly pulled the trigger and committed to Minnesota. The 6-6, 265-pound tackle camped earlier this month and impressed head coach Jerry Kill and offensive coordinator Matt Limegrover. Shortly after, Connelly was offered and the thought of committing to Minnesota became a real possibility.

The three star prospect was 6-5, 240-pounds, but since the added height and weight, the Minnesota coaches see him more as an offensive tackle instead of an defensive end.

He chose Minnesota over Illinois State, Montana State and Wyoming along with receiving interest from Colorado, Colorado State, Cornell, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Purdue and Wake Forest.

Connelly is now the third offensive lineman commit in this class joining fellow in-state lineman Bronson Dovich and Ohio native lineman Ted Stieber.
