Sioux Falls (SD.) Roosevelt rising junior offensive tackle Grant Schmidt is early in the recruiting process, but already holds two offers from Washington State and South Dakota State. He talks about how his recruitment is going and a school he hopes to land an offer from.
"My recruiting is going great right now," Schmidt told GopherDigest. "I hold two offers and I'm hearing from a lot of Big Ten schools and a fair share of SEC schools. I've also taken an unofficial to Nebraska and Iowa."
"I have heard a bit from Minnesota. I think they just need to see me play ,which will happen this weekend for the first time. I had a hamstring pull earlier in June, so I had to miss a couple of June camps including Minnesota's camp. I will be going up to their camp Sunday."
The 6-7, 290-pound mammoth tackle likes what the Gophers have to offer and would be really happy if he saw a Minnesota come his way.
"I really like that Minnesota is super close and I have gotten to see them play in person when I was at a game day visit at Nebraska," said Schmidt. "They played Minnesota and I really like their atmosphere. I really appreciate all offers because they are investing in me as a player, so a Minnesota offer would mean a lot to me."
As far as his summer plans go for visits and camps, he is just going with the flow, but he does know what he brings to the gridiron.
"I haven't truly decided yet on doing anymore visits or camps," said Schmidt. "I take every day as it comes because of how fast things can change. With my game, I am a violent player and always try to be an enforcer on the line. I am also a big believer on the little things making the difference and it can change a lot within the game."
