Minnesota lost a linebacker Wednesday when redshirt junior linebacker Lamonte Edwards violated a team rule, confirmed by a Gopher spokesman.
This was first reported by Michael Rand of Minneapolis Star Tribune and the report states he arrested after stealing an iPhone on June 18th. Later on, he admitted to stealing the iPhone and now will pay the price of no longer playing for the Gophers.
Edwards is a native of Woodbury, Minnesota and was the No. 86 outside linebacker and a three star recruit in the 2010 class by Fox Sports Next. He was in the mix to possibly start this upcoming season or at least contribute. During his career, he switched from running back to linebacker and this past season made 8 tackles along with starting in one game.
