A 6-0, 186-pound freshman from South St. Paul, Minn., Wilcox emerged as the Golden Gophers’ starting goaltender in the month of November. He went 4-0-2 over a six-game stretch between Nov. 9-24 that included a 4-0 shutout at Alaska Anchorage on Nov. 9, a 2-2 overtime tie and 3-1 victory over Wisconsin on Nov. 16-17 and a 5-1, 3-1 nonconference road sweep at Vermont over the Thanksgiving weekend that saw him stop 48 of 50 shots on goal. He was named the WCHA Rookie of the Month on Nov. 13 and for the month, he turned aside 198 of 214 shots on goal.
Over 819:23 of action in nets this season, Wilcox leads the WCHA overall with a 1.61 goals-against average, is third in save percentage at .925, and is first in victories at 9-2-2 and second in winning percentage at .769. He is a draft choice of the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning.
The WCHA also represented the HCA National Division I Player of the Month in Omaha’s Ryan Walters.
