With the return of Trevor Mbakwe, Rodney Williams, and Mo Walker, hopes are high for the Gophers this season. Minnesota has looked strong in their exhibition contests but will welcome American, a team that won 20 games a season ago. As college basketball kicks off on Friday, this will be the first regular season game for both teams. The Eagles have played in one exhibition game, dominating Mary Washington, 71-46.
Head coach Jeff Jones is in his 13th season with American and 21st overall. With the Eagles, he has compiled an impressive 202-162 record. He led American to 20 wins last season including a 10-4 mark in the Patriot League.
Friday will be the first meeting between Minnesota and American.
