The scoreboards and fascia boards will be built and installed by Daktronics, Inc., while Minnesota-based Parsons Electric will supply the new sound systems at both facilities.
"It was time to make the upgrades at Mariucci and Williams Arenas," said Associate Athletic Director for Facilities Scott Ellison. "Golden Gopher fans are not only passionate about the athletic programs but also the facilities. We understand the importance of game presentation as it pertains to each fan's experience and with the addition of state-of-the-art scoreboards, ribbon boards and sound systems at both facilities our staff will be able to further enhance that experience."
The new scoreboards will have a similar look, but will feature a different size video screen. The video screen at Mariucci Arena will be 11'6" tall and 14'9" wide, while the Williams Arena screen will be 11'7" tall and 13'8" wide. Both scoreboards will feature an LED ring above and below the main video board.
The university will also be adding a state-of-the-art control room in TCF Bank Stadium. The control room, designed and installed by Minnesota based Alpha Video, will run the videoboards in Mariucci Arena, TCF Bank Stadium and Williams Arena.
Removal of the existing scoreboard at Williams Arena has been completed, while removal of the Mariucci Arena board will begin in the near future.
