Wright Drawing Interest

Recruiting has been heating up for Wayzata (Minn.) offensive guard Chandler Wright.

"Iowa State is interested," the 6-foot-3, 275-pound Wright said. "I talked to the Gopher coaches recently about how I'm not gonna be able to make it to their Junior Day. Instead of that they said they'd just like me to go down there for a spring practice or the spring game which I plan on doing.

"I also get letters from Wisconsin and Iowa. I hope to go to a Minnesota camp if I'm up here for it and probably an Iowa or Iowa State camp and possibly Louisiana Tech."

Neither the Cyclones nor the Gophers have talked to Wright about what position he projects at on the offensive line in college.

"They haven't talked to me about what spot on the line they want me to play on the line at all yet," he said.

Wherever Wright ends up the team that gets him will get a physical player.

"I'd describe myself as the type of player that will hit you in the mouth between the whistles and play clean and I'm gonna make you quit by the end of the game," he said. "I consider myself a leader. I bring leadership by example. I'm not really a vocal guy but I do things with the team in mind—try to show the younger guys the right way to do things."

Chandler grew up in Louisiana and moved to Minnesota recently with his mother. Despite having ties to a couple of areas location will not be a factor for Wright.

"All of my family is in Louisiana except my mom and me," he explained. "I don't really have a dream school. I just wanna play. Location doesn't play a factor for me."
