Holloway—who plans to enroll early—explained what he is looking for in a potential school.
"I'm graduating in December so I'm trying to get everything all figured out," he said. "Really I'm just looking for some place to have fun the school has to have great or at least above average academics but really I just want to go somewhere where I can play."
Recently Holloway gave a top five that included Tennessee, Maryland, UNC, Wake Forest and Minnesota. Minnesota's North Carolina recruiting coach is Jim Zebrowski and the two have developed a good rapport.
"I've talked with Coach Zebrowski quite a bit actually and I've built up a pretty good relationship with him," Holloway said. "He's one of those coaches that doesn't sugar coat anything he just tells you how it is. Like I feel like there is a better chance that I could come in and get a chance to prove myself and earn a spot, rather than other places where a higher rated recruit comes in and gets more chances."
Holloway admitted to not really knowing much about the Gophers and the University of Minnesota but there is one thing about the Gophers that really sticks out to him.
"I really haven't done much research but I have been talking to coach about it and slowly learning more," he said. "I do know that they have some of the nicest facilities in the nation. They just remodeled the weight room and practice facilities and the stadium is only like three years old so I really like that they seem to put a lot of work into it for the players."
Last season Holloway ran for over 1,900 yards and 23 touchdowns and during his sophomore campaign ran for over 1,500 yards and 24 touchdowns. So how would he describe himself as a player and teammate?
"I'd describe myself as someone who will do anything for the team if I'm asked to play running back I'll play running back, if I'm asked to play quarterback or linebacker I'll play them," Holloway said. "If they want me to play both offense and defense then I'll do it whatever the team needs me to do to succeed I'll do it."
Over the off-season Holloway said he's worked on basically everything football related whether it's working on linebacker drills to playing quarterback he says he's worked on it all. He has also been working with teammates to help them improve for the upcoming season.
Holloway said he has talked with various schools, including Minnesota, about setting up official visits but for the moment he just wants to take the recruiting process slowly so he can focus on his upcoming season. He said he'd like to make a decision sometime after his season.
