Gulley currently holds offers from Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Kent State, Northern Illinois, Ohio, Toledo and Western Michigan.
With so many schools interested, Gulley is trying to find certain attributes in each university.
"Academics is the number one factor for me right now," he said. "After academics then I will look at athletics, the success of the program, and then the coaching staff and the people around them and how they handle recruiting."
Last month the talented running back attended one of the Gophers coaching staff's senior day camps and came away very confident in his performance.
"It went very well, I feel that I did very well," Gulley said.
"The staff recorded the camp and they told me that they were going to get back to me after they had fully evaluated the camp video. It was very up-tempo and I learned a lot from the coaches. They're a great group of coaches and I know that they're new to Minnesota but they had everything under control and going in the right direction."
Gulley has built up a good rapport with Gopher's quarterbacks coach Jim Zebrowski.
"Coach Zebrowski is my recruiting coach and we've talked a few times and we've built up a pretty good relationship," he said. "Also, he's also from Cleveland, Ohio and I'm from Ohio so that's helped our relationship."
As he prepares for the upcoming season Gulley has been working with his team, lifting and getting his team focused.
"I would describe myself as a hard worker on both sides of the ball and a team player," he said when asked to describe himself as a player.
What are his plans for making a decision?
"I plan on taking all five of my official visits and then sit down with my parents and discuss everything and make my decision at the end of my season," he said.
During his junior season Gulley ran for 1,659 yards and 16 rushing touchdowns and added two receiving touchdowns.
